Never one to follow the norm, my passions are history and the sea. I'm a spontaneous person with varied interests always open to new adventures. An "off the beaten path" type of person, with an extremely quirky sense of humor, I am right at home whether I'm on safari in Africa, on a sunken German U-Boat, on the beach during a thunderstorm, at the theater/museum, or snuggled on my couch with my trusty sidekick and a DVD. I prefer the outdoors-boating, kayaking, hiking, playing in, on, around or underneath the water. However, sometimes I'll admit, it's hard to pry me away from the couch if an old Bogie movie is on. I have done quite a bit of traveling and can't wait to see the rest of the world.
Born in Jersey City, NJ, I did most of my growing up in the next town over-Bayonne. An early love of the sea and for history, was apparent. I closely followed the tale of the U-Who, a sunken German U-Boat found off of NJ, and of the 7 year quest to identify her. I reveled in tales of shipwrecks, lost treasures, and historical mysteries.
An airline career is what allowed me to explore the world, which led to a career in Logistics. I officially surrendered my "weekend warrior" status in 2007, resigning my office position to finally follow my heart.
What has transpired has exceeded my wildest dreams and it hasn't even really started yet. I'm an "Historical Explorer", both on dry land and beneath the sea. I do the historical research, then the quest begins. I work as a freelance writer, researching and writing articles for Historic Publications newspapers. Additionally, I am under contract with Arcadia Publishing to write "Then and Now, Lee County", due in June of 2010.
My passion for shipwrecks has created a vision of some type of maritime history museum. Numerous projects I am working on would prove valuable to Lee County's history if they are found and identified. I am currently working on my first step of achieving this dream-my certificate in Underwater Archaelogy with the Maritime Archaeological and Historical Society.
